The Vietnam Trade Center in the US, established in 2004, is a division of UIMEX (United Import-Export) in Long Beach, California, USA.
After a period of importing and exporting goods between Vietnam and the US and vice versa, we identified a common challenge that many Vietnamese businesses face: language and navigating the distribution market in the United States. Realizing these difficulties, we decided to establish the Vietnam Trade Center in Long Beach. At that time, the Ministry of Trade (now called the Ministry of Industry and Trade because they merged the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Industry into one), we knew their involvement would be crucial to its success. So, we proposed that the Ministry of Trade send specialized officials to the US to visit and survey our Vietnam Trade Center.
Mr. Nguyễn Cẩm Tú, a highly respected figure in the field, led the delegation. On December 6, 2004, the senior officials from the VietTrade Promotion Department, Ministry of Finance, and 18 Directors of the Department of Trade in 18 provinces/cities went to the US.
